Tom Holman at the Mix Sound For Film

I spent a day at the Mix Sound For Film event at Sony Studios. I’ve mixed music for more than a few long-form rock concert videos, so it’s always good to check in and see what’s going on in the world of sound for film. This year the buzz is about “3D” audio systems like 

Dolby Atmos and Auro 3D. It’s great in the theater and it’s now available for your home! (More channels = more fun!) I want to mix music for this format, so everyone go out and buy a system for their TV please!

It seemed fitting that with all the immersive playback systems being demo’d I ran into legendary surround sound pioneer and the man behind Lucasfilm’s THX system: Tom Holman.
